Who Watches Us When We Watch the Stars

Stargazer is an experiment of hybrid presence, an artwork situated between two interconnected sites – a dome projection in Barcelona and the virtual world in Mozilla Hubs.

The virtual world of Stargazer draws its visual inspiration from a pre-scientific understanding of the cosmos, materialised as Platonic solids. It encouragess visitors to engage playfully, create and share their own mini narratives as pictures and question the concept of communication, distance, time and presence. It´s like sending a virtual message in a bottle into space: The pictures alter the dome projection site in Barcelona, where visitors observe changes to their visual enviroment in real time. Who sees these messages, what is their impact, and how will they respond?

How it Works?

Kepler installation inside Mozilla Hubs, where users can select their own avatars and join the room.

In the core of the installation, there is a sphere, showing a live 360 video of the physical installation inside the dome in Barcelona.

In the Mozilla Hubs Room of the STARGAZER project, users could use all the Mozilla Hubs features, shuch as drawing lines and write texts and bring 3D models from Sketchfab to represent their memories or show their emotions, and then using the virtual camera, take a selfie or photo of their installations. Once they pin the photo in the virtual space, STARGAZER software start process the photo…

By using the API system in the software, STARGAZER check for new photos from the users inside the Mozilla Hubs room every 10 seconds then, bring ad represent the photos inside the dome, the users inside the dome can see the Mozilla Hubs’s users memories and the Mozilla Hubs users can see the present of the physical installations by the Live streaming sphere.
